The BSBK – Potter Street office is located at 717 Potter Street in Berkeley (Bldg.977), within the Aquatic Park Center of Wareham Development, near the Ashby exit off the Interstate 80/580 freeway. While the majority of its staff is located here; a few are located with their research group at Berkeley Lab’s main site.

Upon Arrival
Please sign in at the security desk in the lobby upon arrival; the security officer will ask to see your picture ID. The officer may assist you with contacting your host as needed.
Visitor Parking
There is limited street parking available on the surrounding streets. The outdoor parking spaces in front of the Potter Street site are on a first come first serve basis. We cannot reserve parking spaces located in front of the building.
Berkeley Lab Shuttle Service
The Aquatic Park office is on the Berkeley Lab shuttle route “Potter St./JBEI” (“Potter” stop); see route and rider instructions.
Bldg. 977 Access Guide
Atrium
Everyone must badge in separately every time you enter the building. Refrain from "piggy-backing" (following someone through a door without using your badge). If you forget your badge you must return home to retrieve it. There will be no temporary badges issued.
All atrium doors are security and fire doors and must remain closed at all times.
Meeting Rooms
Please keep the doors to the designated meeting rooms open when you leave to let others know they are available to be used.
Kitchens
Do not leave your food unattended in microwave, toasters, or any running cooking appliances . Please clean all used surfaces and appliances when you are done using any area.. DO NOT spray disinfectant directly on appliances. Use the towels to wipe them down.
Cubicles
Do not use any cubicles without checking and booking through the appropriate channels.
Labs
Research Groups / PIs are responsible for providing sanitizing solutions (such as 70% Ethanol) for sanitizing surfaces and equipment in their own lab work areas. The surface sanitizers provided by the Berkeley Lab are for common and office areas.
All lab entrance doors are fire doors and must remain closed at all times.
Parking & Transportation Potter Street (B977)
Limited on-site personal vehicle parking is available to eligible employees, affiliates, and visitors at the Potter Street offsite location (717 Potter Street).
Parking at Potter Street requires a parking permit that is issued by Wareham Properties.
The parking garage at Potter Street is for multi-tenant use and is not managed by LBNL. Eligible individuals are limited to one valid parking permit which must always be displayed on the vehicle while parked in the Wareham Properties garage.
Individuals authorized to park their vehicles in the Wareham garage must provide vehicle information to Wareham Properties.
In addition to commuting by car, LBNL supports several other means of transportation including shuttles, biking, carpooling, etc. Check out LBNL’s transportation page.
How To Obtain Wareham Parking Permit
Parking Guidelines
Parking agreements are between Wareham Properties and the parker.
The garage is for multi-tenant use. LBL does not manage the parking garage.
Never give the parking card to someone else to use.
All Wareham garage parking cards must be returned to the Building Manager upon leaving the lab or re-assignment to another building. Wareham charges a fee for any lost cards or hang tags. We need to keep an accurate accounting of card assignments to maintain lease compliance and any active cards assigned to former users will be deactivated. For all new parking requests see the process below.
New Parking Card Requests
Parking will only be approved if:
Potter St. is your assigned work location.
You spend at least 4+ days a week at Potter.
For occasional parkers we ask that you make use of the loaner badges available at the front desk for single day use, or the public street spaces between 717 and 725 Potter.

If there are available cards/spots and you meet the approved criteria you will be sent a Wareham Parking agreement via HelloSign
Fill out the agreement and it will be forwarded to Wareham for acceptance.
You will be notified when your card is available at the Potter St. guard desk.
If there are no available cards/spaces you will be placed on a waiting list and be notified when a spot is available. Distribution subject to the aforementioned criteria and business need.

The following conference spaces are available to use at Potter St. Please check calendar before use. If you do not have building 977 access, please make sure to arrange pre-approved building, badge, or visitor access prior to your meeting.

Event Space

Rules For Gray Auditorium 977-141 Use:
The Gray Auditorium is open to book. If you have any issues, please contact 977-141GrayAuditorium@lbl.gov for assistance.

Host/Organizer Agreement: The host is responsible for all event logistics & adhering to room guidelines; catering needs, setup & cleanup, support needs, etc.
ROOM CAPACITY: The Fire Marshall set the room capacity. No more than 50 people at any time including the speaker/s and any support staff. Please note that over a 40 capacity limit, some attendees will not have access to power outlets or table seating
Please note: Minimal food is allowed in Gray Auditorium 977-141. All liquids must have a secured lid. All liquid dispensers will be kept outside of the room. Host is responsible for all catering needs & cleanup.
No recurrent bookings/meetings. This room is for planned events or large meetings. Any recurring events will be removed from the calendar.
If you do not need the room, please cancel/remove your event from the calendar as soon as possible.
No administrative support. The room has been upgraded and is self-service. Please coordinate a prearranged support plan, within your division (large events only), if needed. All day support is not available.
No additional furniture or removal of items in the room. No additional requests to add, remove, or rearrangements of the room are allowed. One setup (classroom style) only.
No use of Potter atrium. Two tables are placed outside of Gray Auditorium for catering use only. All liquid items in Gray must have a secure lid. No additional atrium setup requests can be accommodated.
If needed, the use of Potter's outside patio is available. Make sure to check the weather before booking. You will need to coordinate & setup supplies for the patio space, such as additional tables, supplies, and booking requests through LBL conference services only.
Clean up after use. Please make sure to allow time for any setup of materials, setting up your zoom, and cleanup after your meeting as needed.
No weekend or official lab holiday use
IT routinely checks the zoom setup the day prior to your event. If you need to review the setup, please contact potter-help@lbl.gov.
No kitchen or other areas can be accessed or used without prior approval.
Do not book additional conference rooms at Potter unless absolutely needed. Please be mindful that Biosciences Area operations and researchers use these spaces regularly.
Badge Access
BSBK Operations is not responsible for ensuring site access permissions are obtained in keeping with Lab policy. Meeting hosts are required to obtain site access permissions for all non-employees & vendors.

LBL Potter Employees ONLY: We have a limited amount of single-day guest parking passes for the parking structure/garage available. If you would like a single-day parking pass (Potter employees only), go to the Security Desk, present a valid ID and the security officer will provide a parking pass. The passes must be returned before you leave the site for the day.
Vendors cannot park in the parking garage.
